Bio

I am a 3rd-generation physician; the first Ob/Gyn. I was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to Virginia to become a U.S. citizen in my childhood. I received my BA in Biology at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where I was a member of the Crew Team. I attended medical school at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. After medical school I moved to Santa Clara, CA where I did my Ob/Gyn residency training at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. I worked in private practice in Mountain View, CA for two years before moving to Sonoma County. I joined Kaiser Permanente in January, 2003.

I met my wife in my final year of residency. My wife and I share a love for triathlon, scuba diving, and travel. In June 2004 I completed my first Ironman distance triathlon, one month after the birth of my son. We are active in the athletic community in Santa Rosa where we swim, bike and run. My wife did her first Ironman distance triathlon, one year after the birth of our son. I believe physical fitness is an attribute to all aspects of your health.

I am often asked why I chose to become an obstetrician/gynecologist. For me, there was no question. I like the constant variation of seeing healthy women in the office, doing pelvic surgery and helping bring new life into this world. Nothing is as special as attending the birth of a woman's new baby. I enjoy getting to know new people and being involved in these special moments of their lives.

I consider it a privilege to provide medical care to my patients. It is especially powerful for me when one of my patients is asked who her doctor is and she happily responds, "Dr. Sacher is my Ob/Gyn."

I am a generalist Ob/Gyn, providing all aspects of women's healthcare but I do have areas of specialty and interest. I am a member of the high-risk obstetrics team, treating various high-risk pregnancy conditions including diabetes, high blood pressure and twins. I am also interested in new and innovative operative techniques.

I am a board certified in obstetrician and gynecologist and hospital physician. I am a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the American Board of Hospital Physicians. I have also been elected to the American Board of Ethical Physicians.

Besides patient care, I do have a few administrative roles. I am the access champion for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, ensuring that our patients have the best possible access to their doctors. I am also the co-chair of the local product council for the hospital.

I look forward to taking care of your health care needs from your first Gyn visit, to the birth of your child, through menopause and into you golden years.

Travel

An adventure I've had:

In the first scuba trip I took with my wife, we dove The Blue Hole in Belize. Then for our honeymoon, I surprised her with a trip to Fiji, where we dove The Rainbow Reef.

In my senior year of medical school, I did an elective in South Africa. After my program was over, I went on a tour to The Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. While there, I bungee jumped off the highest natural bungee jump in the world (111 meters). I also went white-water rafting down class 5 rapids of the Zambezi River.

One of my recent trips:

We have a yearly Ski trip to Colorado with my parents and my sister's family.

Recently I just returned from Tuscany
