Bio

As an OB/GYN NP at Kaiser I am a fully qualified health care provider who is able to diagnosis and treat acute and chronic conditions, order blood tests and x rays, interpret diagnosis tests, prescribe medications and manage your care within the scope of OB/GYN. I work closely with my physican/NP colleagues and consult with them when needed. I also hold national certification in Women's Health Care.

I was born and raised in NYC, a first generation American of parents from the island of Malta. I graduated from a diploma nursing school in 1974. I then began working and traveling in earnest. During that time period I spent a year working in Canada and another year living in Europe. I found myself in SF in 1978 and made the commitment to advance my education. I obtained my BSN in 1983 from USF and my graduate degree from UCSF in 1986. During this time, I also became a mom as my oldest child was born in 1982.

Since becoming a NP I have been fortunate to have worked in a wide variety of settings including Planned Parenthood, the OB Faculty Practice at UCSF, and in private practice in Santa Rosa. I was offered a position in the OB/GYN department here at Kaiser in 1992. I was attracted by the people and the unique setting. My various experiences have enriched me and have allowed me to work with people of all walks of life and ethnic backgrounds. I enjoy working with women of all ages. I believe that every stage in a woman's life is unique and it is a pleasure and challenge to help and promote a healthy lifestyle across a woman's life span.

I enjoy a full and busy family life with my husband and three children. We also have quite the menagerie of pets including a dog, cat, parrot, and snake. ( I have no responsibility for the snake!) My oldest son is in college and I also have both a teenage son and daughter. I have been a mom for a long time and the challenges continue daily. When my children were younger I began teaching health education to 5th and 6th grade students at our local elementary school and have enjoyed that so much that I have continued to do so. My love continues to be traveling as I enjoy experiencing different cultures and meeting new people. I also enjoy most outdoor activities and spending time with good friends. What I find as a real treat is a rainy day and being able to curl up by the fire with a good book.
