Bio

I love being a midwife! My path to midwifery started during my service as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala between 1995 and 1997. While there, I worked closely with rural midwives (comadronas) to improve birth outcomes and the management of emergency situations. I also attended my first live birth in Guatemala and was hooked. I believe midwives provide a unique balance of safe, quality, evidence-based care and the intuitive support and empowerment of women in their individual healthcare decisions. Both of my children were born with midwives.

Born and raised in southern California, I recently returned to this beautiful state to live closer to family. Prior to my 'homecoming' I spent 5 years in Philadelphia where I earned my Master's in Midwifery and Women's Health at the University of Pennsylvania. I worked the next 4 years for a community health center in Omaha, Nebraska where I had the opportunity to develop close, lasting relationships with my patients. Since my arrival at Kaiser Permanente, I have thoroughly enjoyed the diversity of our membership, staff and work experiences. In addition, I fully support Kaiser Permanente's focus on health promotion and disease prevention.
