Bio
I was born and raised in sunny Southern California. I'm the youngest of three and had the great fortune of being raised by wonderful and loving parents who always encouraged a healthy active lifestyle that included a lot of sports and outdoor play, cultural enrichment, education and a good sense of humor. My parents are from Nicaragua and Guatemala therefore there was a lot of Spanish spoken in our home. For all practical purposes I'm fluent in Spanish.
I completed my undergraduate degree at UCLA, majoring in Kinesiology and went across town to the rival to attend medical school at USC. I moved to the bay area in 1994 for my Pediatric residency training at the University of California, San Francisco.
I joined Kaiser Permanente in 1997 at the Hayward campus where I practiced for 7 years. Then as chance would have it, while traveling on a plane to Portugal I had the great fortune of sitting next to a handsome, charming gentleman who I ended up marrying. I transferred to the Fremont campus for the next 3 years. Then the greatest miracle of all happened, we had an adorable son who turned out to be just as handsome and charming as his Papa. So although we enjoyed our small stint living in San Jose we decided to move to where we could provide plenty of green space for our boy and better proximity to nurturing family members. And so here as of June 2007 we make our home in Sonoma County and are very happy we came.
As your child's pediatrician I have the wonderful opportunity to be a small part of the miraculous journey you will take with your child from infancy to young adulthood. My role, as your child's pediatrician, will have an emphasis on prevention by encouraging healthy lifestyle habits and recommending immunizations to help maximize the physical and emotional health of your child. In the event your child were to become ill, my role would be to evaluate him or her and recommend treatment, help you better understand your child's illness and find ways if possible to prevent future illness. Hand in hand with medical treatment, I also am here to help provide emotional support for you and your child during the course of any illness your child may have. So I extend to you a warm welcome to my practice and look forward to working together with you and your child as you embark on your unique and very special journey.
